Where will auditions be held?

Western Park’s Ice Arena Building [east doors], 302 East 200 South, Vernal, Utah

Who may audition?

Everyone (over age 12 *see Note On Children below) is invited, no one is pre-cast before auditions take place. Every part is important! Chorus parts (with little or no lines) can make the show great or just average. No matter how great the leads are, if there’s not a strong supporting cast, the show cannot reach its potential. Where would Gladys Knight have been without her Pips? Then again, are you the next Julie Andrews or Gene Kelly?

Note on Children:

First of all, no one under the age of thirteen (13) will be cast in Into the Woods. There may be two parts available for a young person (over age 12). Those two would be Jack and Little Red Riding Hood. Then again, those roles may be filled by an adult… not a teenager. As with any/all auditions, casting is completely subjective and 100% at the discretion of the director and the production staff

Any/all children (under 15 years old) that are cast must have a parent or a mature relative or guardian involved with the production on a nightly basis.

There will be a large need for extras that will basically serve as stage crew, handling the movement of trees and props throughout the show. They will be dressed in either all black, head to toe, or costumed to fit in with the trees and scenery.

How Do I Audition?

Rehearsals will begin on Monday, April 23rd for a few principle characters and April 30, 2018, for the complete cast… and run Mon – Fri from 7-10 PM. Exact dates and times for the melodrama will be determined as it gets started. Those rehearsals will be fitted around the musical rehearsals in the most efficient manner possible.

Into the Woods

The Brothers Grimm hit the stage with an epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make.

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

One of Sondheim’s most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show with the opportunity to feature actors adept at dark comedy.
